Is waiting advisable?

redneckpride4ever — Thu, 02/25/2010 - 14:13

After reading that the patch freezes on a real PS2 after Papas dies on the DQ patch and Parcheesi and an Inn freeze on the PS2 w/ DW patch, I wonder if I should just wait a little longer.
All this hotfix and coding stuff makes my head hurt- I simply don't know how to properly grasp it. The patching is easy enough, but beyond that I'm lost.
If the DW patch does not freeze after Papas death, I may just skip Parcheesi and avoid that one Inn and just use this patch.
Anyone have any thoughts?

If you don't wish to figure

DaMarsMan — Thu, 02/25/2010 - 16:43

If you don't wish to figure out how to apply the hotfixes you could just play the DW version for the parts that freeze. I'm pretty sure you can switch between versions with your save file.

Oh I thought I posted here.

Oh I thought I posted here. The DQ version is probably fine too. Might have a new tool out soon that makes hot fixes etc easier.

thanks

So pretty much just burn 2 discs, one DW patched, the other DQ? Then if it freezes, shut down the PS2 boot the other disc? Sounds like a plan.
It's not that I have not studied how to apply hotfix, I just don't have the technical understanding. My step-daughter's father might be able to help (yeah, my wife's ex, go figure). But thanks for the advice. It'll probably be a month or so between work and kids, but when I get this running, I'll give you a report.
And even though you put these up for free, I'll most definitely be donating more cash when my wallet allows.

Waiting is good....but not the best option

needsleepnow — Fri, 02/26/2010 - 22:11

Hello;

After some time, all the bugs and glitches will be ironed out, but DQtranslations needs as many people to play the game as possible so they can get as many of the glitches fixed...we're essentially the 3rd party beta testers, the quality control.

You might wanna wait, but if u want a "finished" product faster, you should get on the band wagon, and play and report every nuance that u can so everything can be fixed.

In no ways am I affiliated with this project or with DQtranslations, i'm just speaking my mind as to what makes the most sense.

I understand where you're

The Dwaine — Fri, 02/26/2010 - 23:02

I understand where you're coming from. You have to have testers you can trust, otherwise people will leak the build. Sometimes people say they want to test, but really all they want is a build to play and will fall off the face of the earth once they get it.

Well don't have to worry

Tom-Servo — Sat, 02/27/2010 - 11:01

Well don't have to worry about leaking anymore. The biggest concern is making sure the testers have the newest build. (built correctly) So yeah, 3rd party beta testing!
