Please help

clarkadam8 — Sun, 02/28/2010 - 11:10

I really, really, really, really want to play the english version of DQ5 on PS2 with the english patch, but I am horrible on computers and don't know what to do. Could someone please tell me how to put the patch in my game ...and talk to me like I'm 4 years old? I have the actual game, a japanese ps2, a new laptop with a cd drive, and windows 7. Anyones help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

clarkadam8 — Sun, 02/28/2010 - 11:17

I wonder if it is possible to get someone to completely patch the game for me and send it to me in return for a "donation".

Since ISOs are technically illegal, this may not be an option due to lawsuit. I also had the game imported...hope to rip the iso cleanly.
My neighboor will probably be helping me out, since I'm in a similar boat. Try looking around your friends for help. It sucks, I know, but eventually you will get this up and running.
As for donations, I've donated cash just out of gratitude. These guys are serious about these projects, and I'm happy to help any way I can.
Sorry I can't help more. Keep asking around. Download the patch- it comes with a set of instructions to study.
Good luck!

For some weird reason the manual isn't included with the PDF for version 1.1. I added a download link for the manual to the projects page.

I guess I'm downloading the patch wrong or unzipping it wrong because I can't get any directions for it. So I don't even have that. As for donations, I wasn't claiming i would only do it if someone helped me, but I would certainly give alot more if I was able to enjoy it too.

If I could get a complete, organized english script to print, at the very least, that would be helpful.

clarkadam8 — Sun, 02/28/2010 - 23:28

I think I'm "STARTING" to figure out some stuff now that those directions were added in the project section. However, I can't find a file labeled ISO on my original Dragon Quest V ps2 disc.
I was also wondering- after I figure out how to make the ISO and patch it, do I put the new ISO back on the original DQV ps2 disc or do I have to use a blank disc to burn a new copy of the game?

I am so unfamiliar with my new computer and windows 7. I am going to try it on my old computer if I can get a monitor for it. Maybe it will work better on my old Windows xp computer that I am better with,.

Use ImgBurn to extract the ISO. Pretty sure it is free software.

Just curious- I also hd the game imported for ripping purposes. If I rip the ISO off the disc, will the disc be junk? Just wanted to know before I do it since it cost me $50.

Tom-Servo — Tue, 03/02/2010 - 09:21

Do a right click -> properties on the ISO. It should be 2,549,121,024 bytes.

clarkadam8 — Wed, 03/03/2010 - 20:23

I am still stuck here. If i could just get a proper ISO file, I should be able to do the rest of what the directions say, assuming that my english patch downloaded properly. It's all wierd on my new computer.

Well we can't exactly tell

DaMarsMan — Wed, 03/03/2010 - 23:52

Well we can't exactly tell you where to get that. There are other places on the internet to ask those sort of things.

Yeah, and you should probably

The Dwaine — Wed, 03/03/2010 - 23:58

Yeah, and you should probably be running good protection software and the NoScript plugin for Firefox. Some of those places are notorious for malware in their ad networks.
