PCSX2 Recommended Settings and Plugins

King Zenith — Mon, 02/01/2010 - 15:14

Thanks to Rama for sorting out the Mysterious Map game freezing glitch, and sound glitch. With that bug out of the way, the game is largely playable in the PCSX2 0.9.6 (and the beta r1888). There are a few known issues like overlapping menus and a possible problem with viewing the map. Other than that, it seems to run just fine at perfectly playable speeds with good looking picture and sound quality.

Info on the sound / Mysterious map freezing glitch can be found here: http://www.dqtranslations.com/content/cant-advance-more-game

I understand that the emulator will work with a variety of different settings but here are the settings that I use sucessfully:

If you experiencing any

If you experiencing any slowdown.

Turn on the Speedhacks.

EDIT FROM DAMARSMAN: I'm pretty sure speed hacks can cause freezes in some spots.

I had the overlapping menu

EricM — Sun, 04/18/2010 - 12:56

I had the overlapping menu problem until I switched from Dx9 Hardware to DX10 Hardware in GSdx. Ever since then, my menus no longer overlap. Not only that, but my CPU usage has went down as well. Used to be 99% (I have an Intel Q9650) all the time for hours on end. Now it's around 8-12%.

I still get 99% and some *minor* slowdown in the party inventory menu, but it's still quite playable. Ten hours in, level 19 and loving it so far. Runs beautifully in PCSX2. Even better than FFX and Tales of Destiny 2.
