Dragon Quest 4 for Nintendo DS - better English translation?
mike20599 — Sun, 11/29/2009 - 15:03
So Dragon Quest 4 for the Nintendo DS already has an official English translation, but apparently they cut out some stuff. The entire party chat thing has been completely taken out in the English version, and all adult references and humor have been cut out as well. Would you guys be interested in doing a complete English translation?

Wasn't this planned at some
The Dwaine — Sun, 11/29/2009 - 17:40Wasn't this planned at some point, but has kinda fallen off the queue? Probably wouldn't be too bad for volume, but crazy to get the hang of all the dialects. If it's still in the works, I hope the cursor can be put back on talk instead of items. Never got used to that!
The same would be said for DQ
DQ Chao284 — Mon, 11/30/2009 - 18:43The same would be said for DQ 5 as well, because I think the name changes are due to mature content that would nearly make it an "E" only instead of a mild "T" rating, but with the tools like DS Lazy, NFTR Editor and Crystal Tile(doubt many use it), editing many things on it would make sense, of course with DQ 5, 6, 9, And 10, the Piricy Protection code may prevent the game from working after editing it.
No neccesary in my opinion
knighTeen87 — Mon, 11/30/2009 - 11:38There are lots of untranslated DQ games out there,i don't think a re-translation is what we need in the first place.I prefer translations for "Japan Only" games
Usually that is the case but
Tom-Servo — Fri, 08/20/2010 - 15:30Usually that is the case but DQ4 DS omitted a TON of text. (party chat) That and the continuously degenerating quality of localization is really in need of fixing.
I would actually be all for
azul120 — Tue, 08/17/2010 - 16:27I would actually be all for it. It's what I've been waiting for before I begin a perfect playthrough of the game. The party chat was missed, big time.
The cut-off of the party chat
Paladiancecil_234 — Sun, 08/29/2010 - 23:20The cut-off of the party chat was my biggest compliant that square-enix did for this game. The translation wasn't necessarily that bad, just the fact they cut out a huge part of the story ticks me off. To be honest I am not sure it would be that hard to dump the the translation that square-enix did on the Japanese ROM, then DQ translation would have to translate the text that was omitted, but even then that could take up a lot of time. I think that it would be nice but sadly I do not seeing it happening anytime soon.
I really don't miss the party
PlatKing — Mon, 08/30/2010 - 10:14I really don't miss the party chat so much. A lot of party chat is really just pointless script they toss in to try to give some personality to the characters. While it's nice if it's there, if it isn't, it's no big deal, at least to me anyway. If there was no party chat to begin with there wouldn't have been any complaints but since it was omitted intentionally from DQIV's English release it just made SE look cheap.
