DQ5_Rebuilder.exe?

Ghodmode — Wed, 01/13/2010 - 22:00

I was hoping to find a translation for the Japanese Dragon Quest V for PS2. I think I'm in the right place. On the project page there's a download, but I don't exactly know what to do with it.

It contains an executable named DQ5_Rebuilder.exe. How do I use that?

I noticed that it's a compiled version of a Perl program. Is there any chance of getting the original source code?

I know Web dev stuff ((X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP) and Perl very well. Need some help?

Thank you.

The instructions weren't in

The Dwaine — Thu, 01/14/2010 - 12:42

The instructions weren't in the zip file?

All you have to do is drag your DQ V ISO and drop it on top of the rebuilder program. It will expand your ISO so tt'll be all ready for patchin'.

MaxDOL2000 — Sun, 01/24/2010 - 16:35

I can not get the Rebuilder to work.

Everytime I drag the ISO to the Rebuilder 's window , Rebuilder will

immediately close itself. The same with when I try to "press any key"

Levantine — Tue, 01/26/2010 - 08:36

Same thing for me. Running Windows 7 if that helps. I can run as an administrator but it doesn't do anything when I drag and drop (no indication that it's working) and when I "hit any key" it closes. No crash message, nothing. Just closes.

EDIT: Nevermind, I can't read properly. Don't run the rebuilder, just drag the .iso onto the rebuilder icon and it works fine. Sorry!

Phoenixclaws — Sun, 01/24/2010 - 16:52

If you double click the rebuilder, it informs you to drag and drop the ISO onto the rebuilder.exe.

Once you drop the ISO on it, it then verifies and checks that it is a proper copy.
Then it begins the expanding process to alter the ISO so that the patch can work.

It is recommended to use PPF-O-Matic 3 to patch the ISO with whichever variation of naming you wish to use.

NOTE: Do not drag the ISO file on to the open window, it will not work. Drag it onto DQ5_Rebuilder.exe.

Thanks Phoenixclaws for your last little note there. That's exactly what I needed to know. I was trying to drag the iso in the program's window instead of on to the actual file itself. Thanks.

I can not get rebuilder to

snh — Mon, 02/22/2010 - 22:32

I can not get rebuilder to work too. I drag the ISO to the rebuilder 's icon , a command prompt will show and immediately close.

I open a command prompt and run rebuilder, got some messages:

E:\Game\PS2\DQ9>DQ5_Rebuilder.exe
File/Copy.pm did not return a true value at C:/work/Perl/lib/Archive/Zip/Archive.pm line 9.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at C:/work/Perl/lib/Archive/Zip/Archive.pm line 9.

Compilation failed in require at -e line 383.

It seems some error occur, should I install some software before using the rebuider?

snh — Tue, 02/23/2010 - 21:48

I try it, got the same error.

I run rebuilder on my office pc.

it shows:
"Dragon Quest 5r (PS2) Expander" by Tom-Servo and Damarsman.
Drag and drop the ISO you'd like to expand onto this program.

Both home and office pc are WinXP SP2. But office pc install more software.

The rebuilder uses perl, should I install some software about perl?

I run InjectBytes.exe,

snh — Wed, 02/24/2010 - 05:41

I run InjectBytes.exe, receive following error message:

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to
terminate the application.

I find the cause is .NET Framework not installed.

Does the Rebuilder need .NET too?

injectbytes is made with C#

Tom-Servo — Wed, 02/24/2010 - 11:48

injectbytes is made with C# so you may need .net, but for some reason it works for me without having to install .net manually.

The perl script/exe is packed with all the needed dependencies so it doesn't need anything else.

Ok, finally I use my office pc to complete all patch. It works fine with pcsx2. Hope the patched iso is compatible with HDL. Thanks.
